Lungisani Ngidi’s call for the Proteas to take a stand against racism saw a number of former Proteas who benefitted from apartheid voice their outrage at the bowler for having the audacity to tell people that black lives matter. 

It wasn’t surprising, though, as there are a number of apartheid beneficiaries in cricket who have never atoned for their sins and assimilated into the democratic dispensation without changing their thinking. Ngidi’s statement opened the lid on the racism that’s rife in the sport.
